About the Role
Our client is seeking a Sr. Reporting Business Analyst to join their Data and Analytics team, focusing on perioperative services. This role is pivotal in transforming complex business requirements into meaningful, actionable intelligence, providing essential data insights that support critical decision-making processes across clinical and operational teams. As a senior member of the team, the Sr. Reporting Business Analyst will lead report development, optimize analytics solutions, and ensure seamless integration of real-time data. This role requires strong technical acumen, experience with Epic reporting tools, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with operational leaders to analyze business data needs, designing solutions that align with end-user workflows.
- Develop and manage custom metrics, SQL reports, and operational dashboards using Epic Reporting Workbench, Radar, and Qlik Sense.
- Act as a primary liaison for operational stakeholders, ensuring reports and analytics solutions are accurate, relevant, and support business goals.
- Provide advanced support in managing real-time applications and reports derived from the Epic production database.
- Mentor junior analysts, fostering skill development and knowledge-sharing within both technical and functional domains.
- Establish and enforce best practices in reporting, data management, and documentation, supporting an efficient and effective analytics environment.
- Lead the planning and execution of legacy report retirement, transitioning to advanced reporting tools and technologies.
- Actively participate in intake management, coordinating and prioritizing requests, enhancements, and projects with the team manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licenses/Certifications
- Epic Cogito fundamentals, Cogito Tools Administration, Clarity Data Model, Caboodle Data Model, and one of the following certifications: Clinical/Access Data Model. Must be completed within 12 months of hire.
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field; alternatively, 10 years of progressively responsible experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience in BI and analytics reporting, with 2+ years specifically in Epic Reporting Workbench and Radar dashboard development. Proven experience with SQL, data warehousing concepts, and enterprise data management.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- Advanced SQL skills, with a strong ability to write complex queries optimized for high-volume datasets.
- Familiarity with Epic Cogito reporting tools and data models; experience in self-service analytics platforms such as Qlik Sense and Epic Slicer Dicer.
- Strong understanding of healthcare, clinical, and operational data and workflows, including terminology, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on providing superb customer service.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions for clinical, financial, and operational stakeholders.
- Lead the report request and development process, including gathering requirements, creating report specifications, and validating results with stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for reporting needs within specific operational areas, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
- Partner with the Technical Training team to develop and deliver user training on self-service reporting tools.
- Document and maintain technical specifications, standards, and best practices for data solutions, supporting code review processes to ensure compliance.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members, guiding them in both technical and functional areas to drive team success.
- Participate in after-hours on-call support rotation to meet organizational needs.
