The role requires independent decision-making in applying design techniques and collaborating with clients and project teams.
- Designing and upgrading dams, spillways, and handling dam decommissioning.
- Performing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and floodplain studies.
- Designing and assessing structures like levees, culverts, outfalls, and stormwater systems.
- Analyzing the stability of dams and other structures.
- Conducting fieldwork including dam inspections, construction monitoring, and subsurface investigations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination
- Work with clients and teams to develop full design plans and details.
- Technical Calculations
- Perform hydrologic/hydraulic calculations and stability analyses for waterway structures.
- Design Documentation
- Prepare detailed designs, including drawings, material estimates, cost estimates, and calculations.
- Drawing Review
- Ensure design drawings meet requirements and are accurate.
- Fieldwork & Inspections
- Lead field inspections, observe construction, and ensure compliance with designs.
- Collaboration
- Coordinate with other technical teams to ensure project success.
- Vendor Evaluation
- Review vendor submissions to confirm they meet specifications.
- Supervision
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior engineers and designers.
- Proposal Support
- Contribute technical expertise to support proposals and business development.
- Client Interaction
- Work with clients to understand requirements, present solutions, and maintain strong relationships.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; with PE license preferred
- Experience: 3+ years in geotechnical design and project fieldwork.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in GIS, CADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and SITES software.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to effectively interact with clients and project teams.
