POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Energy Management position is responsible for providing an array of energy engineering and related consulting services that support the development and implementation of energy and infrastructure improvement programs for the Baptist Hospital.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following: Other duties may be assigned.

• Management of a Crothall Program dedicated to Energy Management within the Baptist Hospital that might include junior energy engineers, energy analyst(s) or auditors and administrative support staff.

• Work with the Crothall Energy Management Team and outside consultants to perform ASHRAE level 1, 2 and 3 energy audits for healthcare and institutional environments at Baptist Hospital.

• Accurately baseline energy consumption down to the system/load level using instrumentation and existing automation infrastructure.

• Utilize web-based tracking software and systems such as “Portfolio Manager” for benchmarking and the reporting of energy data as necessary or required for compliance to Federal, State and Local Laws.

• Document programs and efforts for improvement and perform analysis required to estimate energy savings to pre-determined levels of accuracy using industry- accepted methodologies.

• Be able to assess environmental impacts (e.g., greenhouse gas reduction) of all recommended efficiency strategies.

• Complete documentation for obtaining available 3rd. party efficiency incentives.

• Document appropriate Measurement and Verification (M&V) protocols and ensure appropriate risk management.

• Work with contractors and in-house staff to complete and document system retro-commissioning.

• Document Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx) and Fault Detection Diagnostics (FDD) tools to drive operationally-based energy savings.

• Write detailed reports and present findings to internal/external customers.

• Maintain project database and library of best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with progressive levels of responsibility in the performance of detailed energy audits, re-commissioning, and retro- commissioning, including scope development, analysis and reporting. Will consider progressive experience in Plant Operations in developing a candidate(s) for this newly created position at Baptist.

• Strong knowledge of a wide variety of central heating, cooling, and combined heat and power (CHP) plants and HVAC systems and their optimization.

• Experience in design and operation of complex HVAC systems as applied to healthcare and institutional environments.

• BSME/BSEE/BSEM with CEM or CEA certification. CBCP, CEBC, CEP certification desirable.

• Very well-versed in utilizing multiple vendor Building Management System platforms to collect data for analysis and implementing changes to operating sequences.

• Expertise in utilizing industry standard tools for calculation of baseline operating conditions and estimation of savings associated with a wide array of energy efficiency strategies. Tools to include custom spreadsheets for measure-specific applications, as well as whole-building modeling programs such as DOE/EQuest and Trane Tracer.

• Must possess strong written and verbal, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Proven ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple engagements simultaneously.

• Familiarity with applicable design standards for building systems.

• Ability to work collaboratively to develop/enhance Crothall/Compass protocols for audit, analysis and monitoring/measurement.

• Proven expertise in documenting Measurement and Verification protocols consistent with IPMVP standards.

• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite of software applications.

• Effective at working both independently (self-motivated) and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

• Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of client’s organization.
