As a Commissioning Analytics Energy Engineer for kW Engineering, you will provide technical support for energy efficiency and decarbonization projects and programs that kW Engineering administers for our clients. You will collaborate with an outstanding team of engineers who are responsible for energy analysis and technical deliverables. This is an opportunity to join and contribute to a highly advanced technical team serving sophisticated and motivated clients. We're looking for these qualities in this mid-level position:

The successful candidate will be able to independently conduct energy investigations including but not limited to:

  • ASHRAE Level 1 & 2 Energy Audits
  • Retro-Commissioning (RCx) Projects
  • Commissioning (Cx) Projects

This position demands a willingness to quickly learn the energy engineering industry, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and creativity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct analyses of energy savings and lifecycle costs for energy and carbon savings measures for existing building systems, including but not limited to HVAC systems, lighting, on-site generation, and process systems.
  • Utilize SkySpark data analytics to support commissioning and ongoing commissioning at unique and complex facilities.
  • Perform measurement and verification of energy savings. Provide technical assistance to customers and utilities to ensure that energy saving impacts are real, and that the savings are on solid technical grounds.
  • Evaluate building operations and identify inefficiencies in building control parameters.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and work with client staff to implement corrective actions.
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of basic engineering principles.
  • Possess intermediate knowledge of building mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn and take directions.
  • Work independently on technical tasks per direction and guidance of senior personnel.

Perform other duties as needed.

What you Need

  • A solid understanding of engineering principles and advanced analytical skills expected of bachelor-level engineering degree or above.
  • Typically, 3 – 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with SkySpark data analytics a plus.
  • Familiarity with major building HVAC equipment/lighting/controls technologies.
  • Familiarity with building control systems, particularly Metasys and Niagara.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team and on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled in persistent follow-up to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Open to learning and embracing new challenges.

The salary range is $100- $130k.

Final salary offered is based on location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. (Salary may be adjusted based on geographic location)
