Responsibilities:

  • Spend time researching, analyzing, and solving structural deficiencies in various structures, including high-rises, parking structures, plazas, building envelopes.
  • Provide forensic investigation, behavior evaluation, repair design, budgeting, preparation of repair documents, and construction administration.
  • Evaluate, assess, and devise repair plans for a variety of existing structures.
  • Perform investigations, surveys, and testing of existing buildings to identify and diagnose deficiencies contributing to damage or deterioration.
  • Critically analyze plans, specifications, and calculations prepared by others.
  • Monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to project requirements, and closely track budgets and procedural standards.
  • Perform or review condition appraisals, developing repair schemes and recommendations.
  • Complete and maintain all project documentation in project management software.
  • Coordinate with engineers and technical personnel for projects in the office.
  • Maintain, market, and promote restoration and forensic engineering consulting services to new and existing clients.
  • Assist and train less experienced staff in various roles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on forensics, building envelope, or facade restoration.
  • PE license required for the role. Additional DOB Certifications desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong proficiency with technology, especially Microsoft tools.
  • A clean driver’s license and insurance if using a personal vehicle for work.
  • Knowledge of planning, documentation, local laws, codes, and filing requirements in the construction industry.
  • A solid understanding of building construction and maintenance processes, from design to completion.
  • OSHA, SPRAT and scaffold certifications are a bonus.
