About the job
We are seeking an experienced technical leader to join our growing team and lead development of the embedded software for our high-speed fiber optic transceiver products. This position will work closely with other transceiver engineering disciplines for requirements analysis, design, implementation, and test of embedded software for our fiber optic transceiver products. You will work across our technical teams and help us to deliver Lumilens’ family of optical transceiver solutions to market.
Responsibilities:
- Lead software design, development and code reviews
- Collaborate with the cross functional development teams to design, implement, and test embedded software solutions
- Provide technical leadership for software developers and mentor engineers on the team
- Specify, design, implement, and test functionality and behaviors of embedded subsystems
- Develop high-quality C code in a real-time embedded environment
- Design software test strategies and collaborate with verification test teams
- Communicate and document software architectures, designs, and test plans
- Participate in hands-on hardware bring-up, system debug, and code optimization
Required / Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- BS degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Advanced C/C++ programming knowledge and experience in embedded and/or real-time environments.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, such as abstraction, layering, modularization, and interface design, with a focus on delivering high-quality, reliable software
- Proven ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative, effective solutions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and driving projects to successful completion with minimal oversight
- Experience working with embedded real-time operating systems in resource constrained environments
- Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams
- Experience with ARM based microcontrollers and/or bare-metal SoC programming
- Experience with mixed signal and data acquisition systems (ADCs and DACs)
- Experience designing control systems
- Experienced with microcontroller-based embedded software development tools, such as IDEs, compilers, and debuggers
- Knowledgeable and experienced with optical communications systems, optical transceiver modules and the OIF Common Management Interface Specification
- Experienced with serial communications protocols, such as I2C, I3C and SPI
- Experience using common test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, protocol analyzers
- Experience with common software development tools, such as Git, Bitbucket, Jira
- Experience programming in Python or C# using MS Windows-based IDE
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Candidate will be required to spend the majority of time in our San Jose, California office
