Stealth Communications is seeking multiple positions for the role of Senior Subsea ROV Pilot Engineer to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) and associated systems at depths of up to 30,000 feet. The ideal candidate will bring extensive mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronics expertise to our operations.
This position requires security clearance and is based onsite on our sea vessels, area of operation: Pacific Ocean.
Responsibilities
- Operate Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV), Subsea Tooling, IWOCS and RWOCS Systems, Tensioning and Reel Systems safely and efficiently.
- Maintain and repair all electronic, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems associated with ROVs.
- Operate equipment including cameras, acoustic positioning systems, sonars, manipulators, LARS, hydraulic power units, complex subsea tooling, surface, and subsea workover systems.
- Assist or pilot the ROV, evaluate environmental conditions and hazards, dock/undock from TMS, and navigate the ROV by acoustics, sonar, and visual (video).
- Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment, including electronics, hydraulics, and mechanics.
- Operate and repair electrical over hydraulic and direct hydraulic control systems.
- Interface with sub-sea navigational equipment, including magnetic compass, gyro, transducer, sonar, altimeter, and survey equipment.
- Integrate and operate tooling, including cutters, pump units, multipurpose skids, dredging systems, standalone sensory systems, and other integrated tools.
- Maintain parts and supplies inventory for all assemblies and subassemblies.
- Work outdoors and indoors, day and night, over/near water, on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
- Perform duties in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work while lying on stomach/back, crawl, and use repetitive movements of arms and hands.
- Assist in the Launch and Recovery of the ROV System.
- Implement and monitor technical procedures and reporting.
- Undertake routine preventative maintenance on ROV hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- Assist the ROV team in electrical and mechanical umbilical re-terminations.
- Conduct routine fault finding on ROV electrical, electronic, and video systems.
- Set-up, install, and operate navigation aids used in subsea operations.
- Pilot the ROV system during normal subsea activities, including launch and recovery operations.
- Perform all duties required of an observer, including deck checks, during normal operational activities.
- Conduct most preventative and corrective maintenance on the ROV system.
Qualifications
- Required: Must possess an active, transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government-issued security clearance before starting.
- Masters in electrical, mechanical, or other relevant engineering disciplines.
- 13+ years of formal mechanical and hydraulic and electronics experience.
- Experience operating ROVs at depths between 10,000 and 30,000 feet.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills.

- Physical ability to work in challenging environments, including high humidity, loud noise, intense light, open fire exposure, airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
- Capable of lifting 30 to 50 pounds and wearing PPE for head, hands, body, vision, and hearing protection.
- Comfortable working at heights with fall protection PPE rated for up to 310 lbs.
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders, stand, balance, stoop, squat, reach, and lift/carry objects.
- Experience in operating motor vehicles.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work lying on stomach/back, crawl, and use repetitive arm and hand movements.
- Capable of independent work and collaboration within a diverse and multidisciplinary team, including scientists, engineers, business professionals, and ex-military personnel.
Annual salary starting at: $325,000 + Sign-On Bonus: $250,000
