Job description
Oversee the quality inspection and quality assurance functions within the plants, ensuring that product inspections and quality control procedures are carried through as defined in the Megger Quality Manual, and meet the standards required by our customers and the end-user.
Maintain ISO:9001 certification, facilitate required audits and all ISO:9001 related documentation for new product development.
Develops and improves manufacturing procedures to maximize operational efficiency. Strives to control the variability within operations processes and assist in the overall standardization of manufacturing operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Includes the following: other duties may be assigned.)
- Ensure the guidelines, procedures, specifications, and reports in the Quality Manual are executed at the plant level and to revise or improve as needed.
- Monitor and manage the customer complaint database.
- Ensure that quality standards are maintained and communicated to all plant employees. Train associates as needed.
- Guide the plant in promoting quality improvements throughout all manufacturing processes.
- Conduct regularly scheduled quality meetings and follow up on action items and improvements agreed upon.
- Maintain and provide access to Quality reference materials as needed, consisting of component standards, design folders, customer specifications, AQL sampling, defect guides, etc.
- Statistically analyze product failures for identifying quality improvement areas
- Maintain new start up approval process and ensure quick resolution of all non-conformances to specifications
- Manage component quality issues at plant level and report defects over allowable specifications. Maintain control of nonconforming materials and inspection and rework/repair labor, and report details of quality issues in log to corporate.
- Monitor data for daily Incoming, in process, and final product audits in SAP or on other forms as per quality procedures. Follow record retention guidelines. Follow up with auditors to correct data entry errors.
- Assist customer and third-party auditors in plant to audit finished goods before shipment.
- Be prepared for short notice assignments related to quality or other projects.
- Able to recognize trends through review of quality data and take action to make the necessary changes to improve product and process controls.
- Present technical quality data via conference calls or email when needed.
- Comply with company and safety guidelines.
- Lead all ISO audits and act as liaison with outside auditors.
- Team with Plant Management Staff to determine solutions for staffing compatibility, quality and cost-reduction initiatives through detailed analysis utilizing lean manufacturing and Six Sigma efforts.
- Invests time on “Gemba” conducting observations for the identification and removal of waste in the process, taking into consideration operator safety, material handling, machine uptime.
- Apply engineering principles to mechanize and automate processes for productivity improvements.
· Additionally, the Quality Manager is responsible for Managing the Safety, OSHA, and EPA requirements. Including ISO-9000 Audits, and corrective actions, Safety education and training, and OSHA reporting.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPEIRENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree ( Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
- Quality management experience in a manufacturing environment: 5 years (Required)
- ISO 9001: 5 years (Required)
- Able to communicate and train plant associates to achieve the quality standards required.
- Experience in quality assurance for production manufacturing is required. Experience in the electrical testing equipment is preferred.
- Experience with SAP Quality Management is preferred.
- Display the need for thoroughness and attention to detail.
- A high degree of intelligence and professionalism is required.
- Ability to recruit, supervise, and train direct reports and maintain a motivational environment within the Quality Department.
- Proven successful utilization of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus
- Green or Black Belt Lean-Six Sigma certification is a plus
- Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Comfortable working independently.
- Computer skills: strong experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and statistical software (Minitab or similar).
- Ability to travel up to 20%
