Sr. Structural Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural design and analysis of grain elevators and storage facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of structural engineering projects, from conceptual design through construction. This position requires a strong background in structural engineering, particularly in the grain storage industry.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the structural design and analysis of grain handling facilities to include silos, support structures, and material handling equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Develop detailed structural engineering plans, specifications, and calculations for grain elevator projects.
- Conduct structural analysis to ensure the integrity and safety of designs.
- Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate structural designs with overall project requirements.
- Review and approve drawings, plans, and specifications prepared by junior staff or external consultants.
- Perform site visits and inspections to assess existing structures and mechanical systems and provide recommendations for repair, renovation, or maintenance.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, estimates, and budgets.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities as needed to address technical issues and ensure project success.
- Stay informed about industry trends, new materials, and construction techniques to continually improve design practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Structural Engineer (SE) license desired.
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, with a focus on grain elevator design, construction, or bulk material handling.
- Strong understanding of industry standards and codes, including ACI, ASCE, AISC, and relevant OSHA regulations.
- Excellent leadership and project management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit is a plus.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and client meetings – approximately 25-30%
Special Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, kneel, and ben
- Exposure to moderate to loud noise within the work environment.
- Exposure to heavy concentrations of grain dust.
- Ability to frequently move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Ability to frequently wear personal protective equipment correctly, including respirators, fall protection, safety glasses, hard hat, etc.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to comfortably work at heights of approximately 200 ft.
- Ability to work in outdoor work environment, including various climates, weather conditions, and inclement weather, approximately 80% of the time.
- Ability to perform all job responsibilities with necessary special demands for up to 8 hours per day.
