Our client, a leading energy company, is seeking a knowledgeable EHS Attorney to provide specialized legal counsel on environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulatory matters. This role requires an attorney with strong expertise in EHS laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, particularly within the energy sector.
Senior EHS Counsel Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including those from agencies such as OSHA, EPA, DOT and state-specific environmental agencies.
- Represent the company in regulatory proceedings and enforcement actions, handling filings, permits, and any required compliance documentation.
- Advise business units on EHS-related risks, compliance standards, and the strategic implications of regulatory developments.
- Monitor and interpret changes in EHS regulations, providing impact analyses and guidance to senior management.
- Support or lead EHS-related litigation, conducting research, preparing arguments, and handling discovery processes.
- Collaborate with industry stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and environmental agencies to advocate for the company’s EHS interests.
Senior EHS Counsel Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety law, ideally within the energy sector or a related industry.
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations, compliance standards, and enforcement processes.
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Experience in EHS-related litigation, regulatory filings, and industry advocacy.
