AV Field Engineer

Summary of the Job:

Kontek is looking for an AV Field Engineer with a high technical IQ and the proven ability to work independently to solve complex technical issues and execute project deliverables. The field engineer must have deep understanding / expertise of advanced Audio-Visual technology, outstanding communication skills, ability to over-come project obstacles, make timely independent decisions, work effectively as part of the customers project team to ensure the highest level of system technical performance / up-time and achieve schedule milestones.

Essential Functions:

• Review project designs and documentation for completeness and accuracy
• Manages own time within defined schedules
• Must be able to terminate, test and troubleshoot cabling as required
• Responsible for loading and verifying configuration files of various AV devices as required
• Responsible for IP configuration of all AV devices residing on the network
• Responsible for updating and maintaining IPs on the project site
• Test audio DSP programming for system functionality
• Test integrated systems and perform troubleshooting/implement fixes as required
• Coordinate with programming team on updates or revisions as needed
• Responsible for completing commissioning QC checklists
• Provide engineering and DSP support for project installation team as needed
• Provide technical oversight on commissioning systems in-house and on-site
• Provide weekly project updates for the Project Manager and Design Engineer
• Prepare project punch lists and submit to the Project Manager as required
• Review field red-line drawings and submit to the Design Engineer upon project completion

• Strong ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, multi-task, and meet deadlines
• Ability to troubleshoot networks and switch configurations
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of AV technology and solutions
• Maintains a sense of urgency

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years AV experience
• 2-4 year college degree in a relevant field
• Programming skills a plus
• CTS certification or ability to achieve within 90 days
• Network+ certification or ability to achieve within first 12 months
• Must have proficiency with loading, testing, and editing files from numerous AV equipment manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC and others.
• CTS-I or CTS-D certification a plus
• OSHA 30 construction safety training

• Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to bend, lift, crouch
• Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to drive
