Job Description: We are seeking a motivated Sustaining Engineering Technician to join our team and assist with various projects related to electrical and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical principles, with the ability to contribute to the design or update of mechanical components and be familiar with manufacturing and assembly processes to assist in product development efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Sustaining Engineering and New Product Development teams with engineering tasks
- Assist production & warehouse staff with product questions/concerns
- Create product support documentation, including, but not limited to assembly instructions, production instructions, controls and process specification
- Interpret conceptual models, produce models that improve upon conceptual designs provided
- Issue drawings to fabrication shops, while working alongside said shops to better the design
- Occasionally program CNC toolpaths
- Work with production engineering team to improve product assembly (time/quality)
- Maintain and create Inventory items in ERP system
- Assembling and analyzing prototypes and finished components
- Create accurate mechanical drawings, following Nulite’s standards
- Maintain and revise existing models, assemblies and drawings
- Maintain correct revision levels in inventory software
- Training on industrial processes to be provided as needed
- Work with Engineering on material quality; ongoing part inspection, rectification of anomalies
- Occasional travel to job sites when necessary
- Conduct various tests for lighting fixtures; tests include verification of structural and thermal integrity.
Requirements:
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or 3-5 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
- Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to work comfortably with both electrical and mechanical components
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software for 3D modeling and drafting
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- On occasion, should be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb a ladder, and stand for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in software tools such as SolidWorks PDM (Product Data Management) for managing engineering data and documents
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques, such as 3D printing
- Ability (or capacity to learn) to program CNC toolpaths and develop work holding strategies with assistance from engineering teams
Compensation Range
- $50,000 - $70,000 per year
