Job Overview
We are currently looking for an experienced Android Developer. This Android engineering role builds, enhances, and supports native components as part of Kroger’s content management eco-system powering our omni-channel customer experiences. These components are used to create, preview, and publish customer acquisition and landing screens on our app allowing Kroger to respond to market demands in real-time.
Responsibilities
- Identify and uphold Android engineering best practices
- Collaborate with designers & product managers to iterate on the design & implementation of our product
- Work with Backend Engineers to build and ship features
- Monitor app performance, watch for traffic drops related to app usability problems & rectify the issues
- Implement responsible design principles to ensure that our app renders well on most devices and is accessible.
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies
Qualifications
- Can evaluate and scope solutions to best solve current and future business needs
- Can communicate with stakeholders when required and others for similar engineering roles
- 3+ years of experience working on large scale Android applications
- Proven experience using Kotlin and the Android SDK
- Experience with modern Android libraries; specifically looking for Jetpack Compose experience.
- Can translate wireframes and mock-ups into reusable components and layouts.
- Experience with Android build, test, debug, and CI/CD tools to compile, test, package, and ship large scale Android applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills, detail oriented, works well in a team and individually.
- A solid understanding of best practices and techniques regarding scalability, performance, accessibility, and security
- Self-starter with strong initiative and ability to work under pressure.
- Understanding of the entire mobile development process (design, development, testing and releases)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work and complete tasks with quick turnaround times
This role (Native AMP Experience) is critical to enabling DX content strategy for the Android banner app. This role builds, enhances, and supports native AMP components that allows DX and Site Production to create, preview, and publish customer acquisition and landing screens on the banner app (i.e., Home page, Brand/Department, and Seasonal pages).
