Job Description

Overview

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees within the food distribution center. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Program Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety program aligned with OSHA standards and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and compliance issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to address safety concerns.
  • Conduct safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation, annual refresher training, and specific job hazard analysis training.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate all workplace accidents and injuries, including near-miss incidents.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and identify root causes.
  • Implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Report all required incidents to OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including fire safety, evacuation procedures, and hazardous material response.
  • Conduct regular emergency drills to ensure preparedness.
  • Coordinate with local emergency services to establish effective response procedures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current on OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations.
  • Work with regulatory agencies to address compliance issues and inspections.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging employee involvement and participation in safety initiatives.
  • Recognize and reward safe work behaviors.
  • Foster a culture of open communication and reporting of safety concerns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred..
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
