Job DescriptionOverviewThe Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees within the food distribution center. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
ResponsibilitiesSafety Program Development and Implementation:
Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety program aligned with OSHA standards and industry best practices.Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and compliance issues.Develop and implement corrective action plans to address safety concerns.Conduct safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation, annual refresher training, and specific job hazard analysis training.Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, and incident investigations.Incident Investigation and Reporting:
Investigate all workplace accidents and injuries, including near-miss incidents.Prepare detailed incident reports and identify root causes.Implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.Report all required incidents to OSHA and other regulatory agencies.Emergency Preparedness and Response:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including fire safety, evacuation procedures, and hazardous material response.Conduct regular emergency drills to ensure preparedness.Coordinate with local emergency services to establish effective response procedures.Regulatory Compliance:
Stay current on OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations.Work with regulatory agencies to address compliance issues and inspections.Safety Culture Promotion:
Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging employee involvement and participation in safety initiatives.Recognize and reward safe work behaviors.Foster a culture of open communication and reporting of safety concerns.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred..Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
