Summary:

Established Miami garment manufacturer is looking for an experienced, meticulous bookkeeper. The position is “in office”. At present the position will consist of three days a week, with the expectation to develop into a full-time role within 6 months.

Key Responsibilities:

The following functions of the accounts receivable process:

  • Bank deposits, cash applications, cash reconciliations, and monitoring customer accounts to ensure timely payments. Customers are comprised of businesses located domestically, in Canada and internationally.
  • Manage the cash application and recording process for our web business which processes on the Shopify platform
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, transactions and payment history
  • Work closely with the Controller, accountant and management team to develop policies and monitor progress.
  • Develop and implement efficient bookkeeping policies and procedures
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Process payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees.
  • Prepare and pay monthly commissions for contracted sales force
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Collaborate with external accountants for audits and tax preparation.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date filing system for all financial documents.
  • Assist management with financial analysis and decision-making processes

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in the hospitality or restaurant industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience in e-commerce and Shopify platform a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) are a plus.
