We are a rapidly growing organization in the Paramus, NJ area. We are seeking to hire a PCB Design Specialist to join our team of professionals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following responsibilities:
PCB Design Specialist with a deep understanding of managing long SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) cycles. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting printed circuit boards (PCBs) to meet product specifications while ensuring scalability, cost-efficiency, and compatibility with long SKU product lines. The role requires a blend of technical expertise in PCB design, an understanding of electronic components, and experience in handling complex inventory and production cycles across a variety of product SKUs.
Job Responsibilities:
PCB Design and Development:
Design, layout, and optimize PCBs using industry-standard software (Altium, Eagle, OrCAD, etc.) for various electronic products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design requirements are met, including electrical performance, manufacturability, and cost constraints.
Ensure designs are compliant with industry standards (IPC, RoHS, etc.) and manufacturing guidelines.
Long SKU Management:
Work closely with product management and supply chain teams to handle complex long SKU product lines, ensuring seamless integration of PCB designs across multiple variants.
Develop design strategies that accommodate SKU proliferation without significantly impacting cost or lead times.
Manage revisions and updates to PCBs across different SKU configurations, ensuring consistency and minimizing obsolescence.
Manufacturing and Production Support:
Interface with PCB manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost.
Provide ongoing support throughout the PCB fabrication, assembly, and testing processes, resolving any issues related to production or quality.
Conduct design reviews, simulations, and testing to ensure PCBs meet functional and performance criteria before mass production.
Component and BOM Management:
Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all PCB designs, taking into account SKU variations and ensuring efficient inventory management.
Collaborate with procurement teams to source components, optimize supply chain, and manage component lifecycle risks.
Ensure designs are adaptable to component substitutions or alternatives, minimizing risks due to component shortages.
Documentation and Compliance:
Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including schematics, layout files, Gerber files, and technical specifications.
Ensure all designs meet regulatory standards and certifications required for the target markets.
Support certification processes and collaborate with regulatory bodies as needed.
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in PCB design, with a focus on long SKU product lines.
Proven track record of designing complex, multi-layer PCBs for commercial products.
Experience in managing multiple PCB versions and revisions across a variety of SKUs.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in PCB design software such as Altium Designer, Eagle, OrCAD, or similar.
Strong understanding of electronic components, signal integrity, thermal management, and high-speed design considerations.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), and DFA (Design for Assembly).
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with high-volume consumer electronics or industrial products.
Knowledge of Agile or Lean manufacturing principles.
Understanding of global supply chain dynamics and component sourcing.
