Associate Scientist, Biologics Production and Analytics
Fable Therapeutics, Cambridge, MA, United States
About Us:
Fable Therapeutics (Fable) is a discovery-stage biotechnology company which develops purpose-built biologics designed to overcome therapeutic index limitations and channel therapeutic response where and when it matters.
Fable is powered by state-of-the-art structure and sequence-based protein language models. Founded by leading ML scientists and veteran biotech entrepreneurs together with top-tier venture capital firms, Fable has recently initiated its internal therapeutic pipeline and has enacted a growing list of pharma research collaborations.
Backed by a 2024 $40M Series A investment co-led by Versant Ventures and DCVC, Fable is positioned to lead in the purposeful integration of biology and computation to solve complex medical challenges. Fable’s aspiration is to write the next chapter of what protein-based therapeutics can do.
Description:
We are seeking a highly talented and motivated scientist to join our growing team and establish our in-house Biologics production and analytics capabilities. With experience in biologics drug discovery, you will be primarily responsible for enabling production and biophysical characterization of antibody-based constructs from our bespoke AI designed antibody libraries. You will have the opportunity to contribute to designing the ideal lab environment to support your antibody production and analytics workflows, including purification and bioanalytical instrumentation and robotics/automation. The data you generate will be used to train our state-of-the-art ML platform to design potent and drug-like antibodies.
In order to execute on accountabilities, an on-premise working model is expected. Flexible working hours to promote a balance between productivity and wellness can be accommodated with manager approval.
Responsibilities:
- Production of antibody-based constructs and libraries from AI designed sequences
- Molecular Biology, transient transfection of mammalian cell culture, and antibody production, with high-throughput capabilities
- Purification of antibody constructs by affinity chromatography, IEX and other methods on FPLC, and with automation in a high-throughput manner
- Binding assays based on FACS, flow cytometry and ELISA
- Biophysical high throughput characterization (for example SEC, HIC, DSC, DSF, AC-SINS, cIEF) of candidate therapeutic proteins.
- Careful documentation and record-keeping of scientific results
- Molecule registration and inventory, and data upload to databases and LIMS systems
- Curation of data for ingestion and utilization by ML scientists
About You:
- BA in Molecular Biology or Protein Science and 4+ years industry experience in biologics discovery and protein science OR MSc and 2+ years experience
- Excellent molecular biology and protein science skills
- Familiarity with liquid handling systems and high-throughput systems
- Committed to digital workflows and the lab of the future
- Ability to work efficiently in a close-knit team and deliver high quality, reproducible data in a fast-paced environment
- Attentive to detail and a careful experimentation
- Ability to take initiative and improve processes
- An excellent communicator and presenter of scientific data
- Passionate about the power of AI to transform biotherapeutics
- Focused on quantifiable results and data driven decisions
