Job Description:

The Internet of Things (IoT) Architect is responsible for designing and implementing IoT solutions that optimize operational efficiency, enhance data-driven decision-making, and enable seamless connectivity within industrial environments. The IoT Architect collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements, assess technology needs, and develop scalable architectures that integrate hardware, software, and networking components. This role requires a deep understanding of IoT technologies, industrial automation systems, data analytics, and security frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

IoT Solution Design: Develop comprehensive IoT architectures, frameworks, and blueprints that align with business objectives, scalability, and interoperability requirements. Design end-to-end IoT systems encompassing edge devices, gateways, connectivity protocols, cloud platforms, and data analytics tools.

Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and technical leadership to cross-functional teams, including developers, engineers, and project managers. Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements, evaluate solution options, and drive the adoption of best practices in IoT implementation.

Requirements Analysis: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their operational needs and translate them into technical requirements for IoT systems. Conduct thorough analysis of existing infrastructure, data flows, and system integrations to identify optimization opportunities and propose innovative solutions.

System Integration: Develop integration strategies to seamlessly connect IoT systems with existing industrial automation platforms, legacy systems, and third-party applications. Define protocols, interfaces, and data models to enable effective interoperability and data exchange.

Security and Data Privacy: Design and implement robust security frameworks to protect IoT systems from cyber threats, unauthorized access, and data breaches. Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations and industry standards.

Scalability and Performance: Architect solutions that are scalable, reliable, and capable of handling large volumes of data. Optimize IoT systems for performance, latency, and responsiveness to ensure real-time data processing and analytics.

Vendor and Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and select appropriate IoT hardware, software, and platform vendors based on technical capabilities, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend advancements in IoT architectures.

Testing and Validation: Develop test plans and oversee the testing and validation of IoT systems to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability. Collaborate with quality assurance teams to identify and resolve issues during the development lifecycle.

Documentation and Reporting: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, system specifications, and user manuals. Prepare progress reports, project documentation, and executive summaries as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Proven experience (6 years) in designing and implementing IoT architectures for industrial applications.

Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, sensor technologies, edge computing, cloud platforms, and data analytics.

Proficiency in IoT protocols and standards (e.g., MQTT, OPC UA, Modbus), networking technologies, and security frameworks.

Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and their IoT services.

Knowledge of data analytics tools, machine learning algorithms, and predictive modeling for deriving insights from IoT data.

Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, CAN) and SCADA systems.

Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (such as ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR) related to IoT security and data privacy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
