Location: Cupertino, CA 95014 (5 days onsite, open to relocating candidates)
Travel Expectations: International travel of up to 25%

Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 per year + 20% annual bonus paid around March of the following year

- Company Size: HQ in Shenzhen, China and established in 1995. We started in the US in 2008. Currently, the US division has around 30+ employees with a production facility and 2 offices in Cupertino.
- Current Engineering Team: One department, different products. Currently, we have 4 Engineers and 2 Sr. Managers who report to the Tech Team Director in the US.
- Management Expectations: May not have a team to manage to start. Depending on how the team grows, they can have their direct reports to manage at a later time.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering efforts for the design, development, and manufacturing of consumer electronic products.
- Oversee the design and analysis of mechanical systems and components, ensuring compliance with product performance requirements, industry standards, and regulations.
- Supervise the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and BOMs.
- Evaluate mechanical performance and reliability of components, subsystems, and assemblies through analysis and testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including customer engineering, manufacturing, NPI, and quality, to optimize product design for manufacturability, cost, and quality.
- Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers on design practices, analysis techniques, and industry best practices.
- Identify and resolve mechanical design issues, providing guidance and support for troubleshooting efforts.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the mechanical design process, tools, and methodologies.
- As a “working manager”, also able to perform Senior Mechanical Engineer tasks including but not limited to developing, building, and analyzing mechanical design concepts and prototypes to meet performance requirements while ensuring functionality, assembly, and cosmetic standards through documentation and tolerance analysis
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, Master's degree preferred, Ph.D. is advantageous.
- 5-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the consumer electronics industry.
- 1-3 years of engineering team management/managerial experience.
- Experience in part/module-level design to top assembly design. MUST HAVE Cooling System/AI Server/Motor Module/Mesa Module/Haptic Module/Hinge Module experience in consumer electronics manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical design structures and principles for consumer electronics, including display, acoustic, antenna, EE, HWTE, and RF systems.
- Proven track record in leading and supporting new product launches, product design, and experience in product or process development, launch, and qualification.
- Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD modeling tools such as Creo, NX, SolidWorks, or Unigraphics.
- Experience with various manufacturing processes and secondary operations, including CNC, polishing, laser etching & welding, PVD, blasting, and glue dispensing.
- Hands-on experience with simulation tools (FEA) and analysis techniques.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawing interpretation, DOE, and statistical process control methods (SPC, CPK).
- Advanced proficiency in written and oral communication in both English and Chinese Mandarin.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
Interview Process:
2-3 rounds total. There will be a tech round interview, HR round, and final with the Director or GM. Bay Area candidates will be asked to do an on-site for the final interview.
Additional Information:
We are a company from China. Contract manufacturing firm catering to many consumer electronics brand to mass produce products. Employees can learn very fast, give them a lot of experience, and learn a lot in the consumer electronics manufacturing with full support that they need and career growth. Night meetings are part of the norm, dealing with colleagues and customers who are based in China. For the Engineering team, schedule is on-site 9:30-5 PST. Sometimes they may have meetings late at night. In this case, they can come in late the next morning if coming from a very late meeting. It's ok to come around 10:30 or 11am.
