The Story:
Come join a rapidly expanding company in there new venture! A company who is one of the largest independent solar and battery storage owner-operators in the US. With deep rooted partnerships, they are continuing to grow and build there team and they are looking for a skilled Operations Engineering Lead.
The Role:
- Oversee the design, retrofitting, and implementation of energy projects, ensuring effective coordination both on-site and off-site.
- Communicate and collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including operations, maintenance, and asset management.
- Manage engineering documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance during onboarding and operations.
- Create guidelines for routine maintenance and troubleshooting of photovoltaic and storage systems.
- Analyze equipment performance, conduct root cause investigations for failures, and recommend design improvements.
- Develop training programs for operations staff and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards across all activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years in Solar Engineering, with a strong grasp of solar project technical characteristics. Experience in Storage Engineering is a plus. Background in other renewable energy projects is preferred.
- Familiarity with conducting site visits and assessing technical issues in the field.
- Proficient in reviewing commissioning reports, FAT reports, and diagnostics. Knowledge of renewable energy engineering documents and project agreements/permits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
- Experience in preparing or managing consultants for load flow and grid studies related to interconnection costs.
- Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC), FERC, and ISO standards.
- Strong background in electrical power systems engineering, including experience with DC, AC, MV, and HV systems, as well as SCADA and control systems.
- Proven ability to analyze failures, such as transformer issues and MV cable failures, with strong relay operations experience.
- Effective written and verbal communicator, capable of interfacing with cross-functional teams and managing projects independently or collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to enhance processes and create efficiencies.
