Project Engineer III – Electrical Instrumentation and Controls

Location: Jackson, MI 49201

Contract Duration: Until November 14, 2025 (with a strong possibility of extension)

Overview:

The Project Engineer III will be part of the Gas Compression Engineering department, focusing on Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls (EI&C) engineering. This role is crucial in delivering engineering solutions for both modification and new construction projects within our natural gas compression fleet. The EI&C team collaborates closely with project managers, multidisciplinary engineers, plant personnel, and external stakeholders to ensure the successful, safe, and timely completion of projects within budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of natural gas compression stations and ancillary utility operations.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver comprehensive engineering solutions, including design specifications, inspection protocols, environmental impact assessments, permitting, and construction management.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical expertise and clear communication to colleagues and clients, facilitating effective teamwork and coordination.
  • Serve as the onsite engineering representative, monitoring project progress and ensuring alignment with design documents.
  • Attend internal and external meetings to discuss project status and address any issues that may arise.
  • Maintain thorough documentation in accordance with established procedures for project files and drawings.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) engineering, with a preference for control systems expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of the design, construction, and operation of industrial facilities and gas compressor stations.
  • Proven experience in procuring engineered materials, equipment, and professional services.
  • Proficient in developing contract documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications for consulting and construction services.
  • Excellent self-motivation, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational abilities, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to manage emergent work or outages effectively.
