The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, installation, commissioning, and operation of a new Battery Active Material (BAM) Factory. This position will join the engineering team tasked with the design, construction and commissioning of the world’s largest production facility of next-generation lithium silicon anode materials.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assist in design, construction, and commissioning of process equipment.
  • Resolve technical issues with equipment and processes during commissioning phase.
  • Develop technical requirements and design specifications for equipment.
  • Contribute to design reviews and provide technical input.
  • Contribute to the creation and review of project documentation.
  • Work with project team to evaluate options and address project and equipment challenges.
  • Develop and contribute manufacturing best practices to facility-wide safety philosophy.
  • Contribute to establishing and improving policies, procedures and standards.
  • Assist Operations in troubleshooting equipment problems.
  • Lead projects and/or initiatives to improve the plant operation or fulfill operational requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
  • Experience in industrial engineering and supporting a production plant.
  • Experience in materials production and/or chemical processing.
  • Experience in capital project management.
  • Experience with bulk powders processing and handling.
  • Working knowledge and experience with industry codes, regulations and engineering standards.
  • Excellent cross functional communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high level organizational skills.
  • Stellar attention to detail, an eye for improvement and spotting potential issues.

Other Qualities We’d Love For You To Have:

  • Experience working with thermal processing equipment.
  • Experience with silicon gasses.
  • Experience with carbon manufacturing and the handling process.
  • Prior experience at both large and start-up companies.
  • Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience in PSM-covered facilities and OSHA policies.

The annual base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000. All positions come with a company bonus and stock options. The actual base pay offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the position is located.
