Duties:
- You will administer fire protection engineering direction for projects involving design and construction or renovation of facilities and structures (e.g., housing, wharves, hangars, storage facilities).
- You will advise other engineers in regards with unusual designs, issues, and situation regarding fire protection engineering.
- You will establish and direct studies, investigations, or analyses to make recommendations on new methods, procedures or approaches to enhance fire and smoke detection equipment, systems, or processes.
- You will resolve construction and design problems encountered during the performance of contracts directly related to fire protection.
- You will coordinate with Architects/Engineers, Contractors, and in-house staff in the delivery of Capital Improvements products and services.
Conditions of Employment:

- This position required a Secret Clearance.
- Occasional travel within CONUS/OCONUS may be required.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Education Requirement
Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Fire Protection Engineering, or Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) to be eligible for GS-13 level.
OR
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board.
