W2 contract only (No C2C)
Location- Remote (office location Santa Clara, CA) ( remote position, but the individual will need to travel on-site a few times to work with the hardware. (The expense will be reimbursed).
Summary
Team is looking for a highly motivated Optical System Engineer to deliver the promise of Precision Agriculture to the world’s farm fields. In this role, you will collaborate with our team to optimize image processing systems for computer vision and machine learning on large datasets from our agricultural robotic systems. We tackle our objectives with multi-functional engineering teams of systems and embedded software, test and QA, mechatronics, computer vision, and machine learning engineers. Our team is empowered to figure out how to overcome challenges, and plan and prioritize work – everyone is a key contributor.
Job Responsibilities
Main job responsibilities include:
- Drive system level specifications for image processing systems and CVML applications
- Optimize ISPs for image quality for human and machine vision
- Create image quality metrics from robotic systems utilizing 4-band imagery
- Make photographic decisions based on machine learning metrics and model evaluation from robotic tasks
- Develop image processing algorithms for image quality analysis for low-latency CV applications including feature detection and object tracking
- Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary functions including hardware, software, and machine learning engineers
Required Experience and Skills
- BS or higher in Engineering or technical fields such as Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Physics, Mathematics, or Data Science
- 5+ related industry experience
- Experience with kernel camera drivers, programming ISPs, preprocessing pixel data and feeding images to inference pipelines
- Understanding of model evaluation for robotic tasks
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration with strong written and verbal skills
- Preferred Experience and Skills
- Experience developing optical systems, computer vision algorithms, and image analysis for large photographic data sets
- Experience with Python, C/C++, MATLAB
- Experience with machine learning for processes such as object classification, depth estimation, model training, image labeling for large datasets
- Understanding of Deep Learning models with large-scale datasets
- Experience with sensor integration and vision systems on autonomous vehicles or robotic systems
- Understandings of methods to optimize machine learning model inference on embedded devices
