They are growing and looking for a Sr. SQL Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and maintain their AWS database infrastructure.
WHO YOU ARE:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity across our databases while implementing best practices in backup, recovery, and security.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Monitor and optimize the performance of AWS databases, including proactive identification and resolution of issues to maintain high availability and performance.
- Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and minimizing downtime in case of failures.
- Design, develop, and implement databases in AWS cloud environments, aligning with the best scalability, security, and performance practices.
- Perform data migrations from existing databases to AWS, ensuring seamless transitions and data integrity.
- Set up and maintain database replication for high availability and disaster recovery purposes.
- Establish and enforce database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data privacy best practices.
- Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and roles following the organization’s security policies and requirements.
- Develop and execute database scripts to automate routine tasks and streamline operations.
- Monitor and analyze database activity, identify trends, and optimize query performance and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application development, troubleshoot database-related issues, and provide technical guidance.
- Stay updated with the latest AWS database technologies, tools, and best practices, continuously evaluating their potential impact on our database environment. Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance after hours.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in database administration, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft SQL Server.
- Proven experience working with AWS RDS and other AWS database services.
- Experience in Windows Server environments, particularly in deploying and managing SQL Server on Windows
- Proficiency in managing, configuring, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Hands-on experience with setting up, maintaining, and optimizing AWS RDS instances.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Full-time, Monday – Friday, every other week on-call rotation
- Remote in TX - occasional office meetings at Dallas, TX Corporate Office
- Compensation: $125-$135k annually
- Location: Dallas, Texas
