Your Opportunity
Stantec is looking for a Transportation Engineer/Modeler with minimum of 5 years of transportation engineering or planning experience to join our multidisciplinary team based in our New York City, NY office. We believe training, collaboration, and connections are strengthened by working alongside team members. This is a flexible/hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office.

Salary Range(s):
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Your Opportunity
Stantec is looking for a Transportation Engineer/Modeler with minimum of 5 years of transportation engineering or planning experience to join our multidisciplinary team based in our New York City, NY office. Your Key Responsibilities
- Performing transportation planning studies, traffic impact studies, traffic operations analysis, speed studies, and toll road feasibility studies
- Developing travel demand models, including model preparation, calibration and analysis of results
- Conduct microsimulation modeling, mesoscopic modeling, dynamic traffic assignments of large-scale networks
- Assisting with and developing traffic data collection plans and data analysis
- Training and delegating tasks to junior engineers on projects
- Presenting results to the clients and manage project documentation
- Preparation of technical memoranda and reports
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Understanding of fundamentals in travel demand modeling including advanced practices
- Experience working with activity-based and trip-based travel demand forecasting models
- Experience with model calibration and validation is strongly desired
- Experience with travel demand modeling tools like Aimsun, EMME, Cube, TransCAD is desired, including cross-platform data manipulation techniques
- Ability to use large passive data to understand and model travel behavior
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret technical findings and share them with non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with computer programming (such as R, and Python)
- Experience with geographic data analysis using GIS
- Ability to assist with proposal development and project management
- Experience in transportation planning projects with both public and private sector
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), strong presentation skills, especially to clients and peers is preferred
- Ability to work on multiple assignments concurrently
- Ability to mentor and delegate tasks to junior engineers
- Strong familiarity with standard business software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, or related discipline
- A masters' degree is preferred
- Minimum 5 years' work experience in transportation engineering, modeling or planning and/or project management
