Network and Perimeter Security Engineer III

Job Title: Network Security Engineer Duration: 06 months contract (possible extension) Location: Fully remote Pay rate: $85.00/hr on W2 Job Description: As a Network Security Engineer III, your primary responsibility is to lead and execute complex cybersecurity operations and incident response initiatives. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to provide expert-level guidance and ensure the protection of our systems and networks against advanced threats. Roles and Responsibilities: Review proposed change requests for firewalls, router access control lists, IPS, and proxies Conduct regular reviews or audits of deployed rulesets to detect deviations from baseline Act as the main point of contact for reviewing threats, vulnerabilities, and server-firewall configurations Monitor and address security incidents, enhancing incident response and resolving security issues Perform triage of potential security incidents following SOC case handling procedures Mentor and guide junior network security engineers Identify and rectify problems and knowledge gaps, continuously improving services Participate in on-call rotations, including weekends, to ensure continuous operations Skills: Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices Ability to analyze network communication flows using tools like WireShark Proficiency in network protocols such as TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, Routing, HTTP, DNS, SMTP Hands-on experience in network security investigations with various security tools Familiarity with cyber security industry frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, etc. Excellent written communication skills for translating complex issues into simple concepts Experience in leading major incident breach response activities Skilled in technical incident report writing and document maintenance Certifications including CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, or Network Fluency in languages like Turkish, Spanish, French, Lithuanian (nice to have) Security certifications like CISSP, OSCP, GCIH (nice to have) Expertise in areas such as Digital Forensics, Threat Hunting, and scripting languages Education: Degree in Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field About ASK: ASK Consulting is an award-winning technology and professional services recruiting firm servicing Fortune 500 organizations nationally.
