When you join Prudential, youll unlock a motivating and impactful career all while growing your skills and advancing your profession at one of the worlds leading financial services institutions!Are you a legal expert specializing in employment law?This position will be primarily responsible for conducting investigations of employee complaints alleging violations of employment and labor laws (Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, FLSA, NLRA and state and local laws) and for providing employment law advice to certain internal clients. That advice will include conducting legal research; drafting legal alerts; advising on changes in various laws and regulations; and working on Company and Law Department projects.Percentage of time spent on legal investigations versus other employment law duties/counseling will vary based on business needs.This position will be based at the Companys corporate headquarters in Newark, New Jersey, with flexibility to work remotely some days during the week depending on business needs and preferences.What you can expect:Conduct prompt, thorough, and objective investigations of employee and third-party complaints, including interviewing relevant parties, stakeholders, reviewing documents, analyzing employee data, and preparing oral and written reports as requested by internal Employment Law counsel.Counsel assigned clients on employment law issues that arise in the day-to-day management of of those areas/businesses and provide proactive guidance to ensure compliance with various laws and regulations that affect the Companys business processes including, but not limited to, recruitment, performance management, leadership development, compensation practices, employee engagement and retention.Partner with Human Resources to maintain appropriate employment policies.Assist with the employment and labor legal alerts process and conduct special projects, as needed.What you'll need:J.D. degree and at least 5 years experience performing employment law investigations and advising on employment & labor law issues and matters.Demonstrated strong working knowledge of US Federal and State/local employment laws.Experience in providing advice on compliance with EEO/AA laws is helpful.Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and investigative skills, with the ability to apply those skills to a wide range of business and corporate settings.High level of initiative and attention to detail.Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.Excellent writing and presentation skills.Strong MS Office skills.Ability to interface effectively with employees at all levels of employment.Ability to travel on an as needed basis for investigations.Must be admitted to practice law in New Jersey or another U.S. state.
