Location: Chicago, ILJob Description:Densification of space to meet the goals of the Division.

Propose and manage the reduction of cost on projects delivered.

Provide oversight of Space Utilization Studies that includes the installation of occupancy sensors.

Manages and accounts for the BSD-FS departmental operating funds.

Manages space planning and management of professional staff. Develops and ensures the regular tracking of appropriate performance measurements to support continuous improvement.

Develops capital planning budgets as they are transitioned to capital renovation projects.

Manages a team of professionals responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of space-related software and database systems, as well as monitoring quality assurance of documentation and data.

Be able to independently meet with departmental chairperson or designee and perform pre-planning program definition and operational analysis to define space needs.

Supervises a team of facilities staff (building managers and dock clerks) responsible for BSD campus buildings. Responsibilities include daily operations, facility development, maintenance, policies, procedures, and expansion to support the strategic mission of the unit and Division.

Works independently, to implement a communications plan for university space and infrastructure planning, space management and design.

Communicates successes and achievements emanating from efforts. Manages, creates, and maintains content for the departmental website.

Becomes an expert in the upkeep and management of the Archibus Space Information Management system.

Performs support activities for Master Facility Space Planning (MFSP).

Coordinates handoff between BSD-FS Planning and BSD-FS Facilities Design and Construction (FD&C).

Maintains inventory of lease, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), timeshare agreements with critical alerts for expiration date, etc.

Manages the BSD-FS Project Intake process as related to requests for projects, furniture, and space requests.

Manage and update BSD signage as part of medical campus wayfinding signage standards program.

Responds to external surveys on space information (e.g. IDPH, AAMC, AHA, CMS, NSF, and LCME).

Reconciles BSD space ownership within Medical Center and campus buildings annually.

Manages the development of space and urban planning initiatives.

Plans space management, design activities, and/or sustainability projects.

Develops strategies to meet the short and long-range goals of the unit.

Manages the development of functional/architectural design solutions.

Manages, plans and participates in multi-unit teams addressing space use and space planning issues.

Manages consultants and consultant selection process; negotiates and manages contracts and budgets.

Recommends and manages the development of space and urban planning initiatives. Plans space management, design activities, and/or sustainability projects. Develops strategies to meet the short and long-range goals of the unit.

Manages a team of managers and professionals responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of space-related software and database systems, as well as monitoring quality assurance of documentation and data.

Monitors the development of functional/architectural design solutions. Manages, plans and participates in multi-unit teams addressing space use and space planning issues. Manages consultants and consultant selection process; negotiates and manages contracts and budgets.

Advises space planning and management of professional staff. Develops and ensures the regular tracking of appropriate performance measurements to support continuous improvement. Develops capital planning budgets as they are transitioned to capital renovation projects.

Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred QualificationsEducation:College or university degree in related field, strongly preferred.

Experience:Knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred CompetenciesSoftware/computer competencies related to the unit (AutoCAD, MS Office, Archibus, etc.).

Strong communication skills and ability to effectively navigate and communicate ideas.

Strong leadership abilities to negotiate approvals and implement various initiatives.

Working ConditionsOffice environment, remote work, and tour of campus facilities as needed.
