The Director of AV Services will oversee the daily operations and technical staff in support of the audio-visual technologies in all Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and event spaces.In concert with other campus stakeholders, the Director will coordinate the design and implementation of proposed technology upgrades for SLCC classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces. This individual regularly coordinates with AV engineers and integrators on room design, bids, and implementations.This individual is responsible for directing and managing multimedia event production, video production and editing, and video/event equipment planning and use for non-academic college needs.Develop and maintain equipment inventories needed to respond to college audio-visual needs. Plan and execute equipment replacement strategies as well as maintain Photo/TV studio and associated inventories. Operate and maintain TV and photo studio.Hire and train team to support classroom technologies, conferencing, event production, and video creation needs.Plan and oversee installations of and maintain college digital signage network.Support institutional events, including participation in planning, execution, and development of procedures and guidelines for college Audio Visual services.This position is at will.Responsibilities:
Serve as the centralized resource for classroom, conference room, and event space technology issues.Continuously monitor the audio-visual technologies in all SLCC classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces. Oversee the troubleshooting of all technical problems as they are reported.Coordinate the design and installation of new audio-visual equipment, maintain equipment databases, approve needed repairs, and manage technology upgrade projects with internal departments and external vendors.Manage and provide leadership for all operations of the team -- including the selection, hiring, and assigning of all staff.Review/improve operations and procedures, organize resources, and promote present and future services.Oversee faculty support for online course updates, term preparations, and general course management and maintenance.Plan new location installations, implement equipment replacement strategies, operate system, and provide user training.Serve as a platform for internal communication.Negotiate for services.Monitor and maintain vendor relationships.Maintain and operate TV and photo studio.Manage equipment, facility, lighting, and scheduling of studio.Maintain portable equipment for technical event execution, including replacement planning, growth planning, storage, maintenance, use, and training.Research and promote new instructional technologies to meet a wide range of college needs.Coordinate with other department leadership and other school/division/department heads, and external entities, to identify and address online support services needs at the College.Keep current on the newest trends involving the intersection of technology and college pedagogy in both online and classroom environments.Manage budgetary expenditures for personnel, supplies, travel, equipment, and all other current expenses.Gather and analyze statistical data to generate relevant reports on results of projects, innovations, research, and other activities to present to appropriate departmental leadership, college entities, and others.
