JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform a wide variety of technical assessments of customer and market requirements in support of sales and business development activities. Review design, performance and overall systems requirements and functional data to develop and prepare detailed proposals for potential and existing accounts/customers. Responsible for conceptual development, preparation of cost models, and detailed technical proposals for all types of automation equipment and projects. Involve any inside or outside key personnel in cost models and conceptual layout in projects where specific technical knowledge is required. Assemble and collect all necessary technical information and customer specifications in order to prepare detailed proposals and/or customer presentations to receive business contracts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Conceptualize custom built machine applications, including CAD proposal sketches. Review quotation requests and discuss design needs with potential customer. Communicate with marketing and other engineering personnel to create the most appropriate design proposal.
•Involve third party vendors and suppliers in the quoting process where necessary.
•Travels to the customer's site to assist in project or product development, working with specific engineering design specifications, objectives and standards.
•Provide sales presentations to customer personnel when required.
•Obtains and prepares detailed estimates of time, quantities, labor and material costs required for work areas such as; product design, testing, machine building, equipment installations and manufacturing processes.
•Perform customer follow-up to answer proposal questions and assist in attempts to close the sale.
SKILLS:
•Welding, Robotics, Automated Assembly, Material Handling, Gauging, Leak-Testing, and Machining
•Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
•Proficiency using advanced 2D and 3D design tools. (ACAD and Solidworks)
•Creative problem solving skills
•Demonstrated leadership
•Customer exposure includes making presentations and delivering technical writing;
•Sensitivity to sales strategies and requirements
•Flexible for an environment of multiple and changing priorities with a strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
•BS - Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial design/Engineering or equivalent experience.
•Project experience in automatic assembly, or related factory automation and mechanical/electrical systems design, applications engineering
•Working knowledge of manufacturing engineering processes
•Experience in building customer relationships
