Overview
ABOUT THE POSITIONVHB's is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Project Accountant to join our Connecticut Finance team. In this role, you will provide crucial support managing the financial aspects of engineering projects largely with Department of Transportations. This position is hybrid out of our Wethersfield, CT office.
ResponsibilitiesManages the preparation, review, reporting, and disbursement of invoices and client contract billings, project expenses, accounts receivable/payable, and related accounting functions.
Manages and carries out billing, collection, and reporting activities according to specific deadlines.Acknowledges correspondence and responds to employee inquiries involving complex accounting/financial processing questions.Analyzes client contracts with project managers to establish monthly billings.Assists with project setup/budgeting, including review of contract compensation and billing methods.Assists with research and resolution of client invoicing questions.Assists with accounts receivable collection.Coordinates the accounts payable, labor, and non-labor suspense cash receipts functions.Facilitate month end close process. Provide recommendations on reserve and review variances.Performs client and subconsultant contract maintenance, including reviewing client contract files to identify variances, omissions, or questionable situations.Analyzes complex accounts receivable issues (e.g., unbilled accounts, work-in-process activities, suspense corrections) and determines appropriate course of action.Reviews, maintains, and analyzes subcontractor files and records.Participates in employee training and evaluation.Confers with project management on contract administration topics.Maintains current, thorough knowledge of principles and techniques of accounting, finance, and contract administration.Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.Skills and AttributesSolid knowledge and understanding of accounting/finance/billing principles, methods, and procedures.Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel).Experience using accounting/financial/contract management software/systems (e.g., Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint).Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking, customer service, and organizational skills.Strong project and time management skills.Team-oriented with strong capability to work independently.Self-motivated with attention to detail.Qualifications4+ years of related accounting, finance, billing, and contract administration experienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or equivalent fieldWe are VHB!
