is accepting applications for
Network Services Supervisor
for the
Enterprise Infrastructure Division.This position is characterized by the responsibility of supervising staff assigned to the Network Operations Enterprise Infrastructure Division. Under general direction, the position plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the day-to-day operations responsible for the Wide Area Network, Departmental Local Area Networks, Wi-Fi services offered by the Innovation and Technology Department, remote access to the Internal Network via VPN, and network security.In addition, this position is characterized by responsibility to assist the Network Operations IT Deputy Chief with the administration, management, and leadership for the day-to-day operations. Duties include:Providing management oversight and direction;Conferring with staff on operation matters;Serving as a technical advisor;Resolving personnel issues;Assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for long-range network plans and daily operations;Reviewing network integrity, security, and efficiency;Evaluating and making recommendations to the Division Chief for improvements or enhancements;Making formal presentations and keeping abreast of technological changes;Assisting in research and cost-benefit analysis of new technologies and making recommendations for acquisition of new hardware and software;Recommending training courses for staff;Assisting in coordination with Telco Service Providers and customers;Interfacing with customers to resolve service issues and concerns to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction;Assisting in the development of the annual Division budget and periodically reviewing budget status.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTAvailability:
Incumbents are subject to 24-hour call-back, evening, and weekend shifts.Pre-Employment Process:
Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background check, which includes fingerprinting and a medical exam.Sponsorship:

Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.Candidates must meet the education and experience requirements to qualify.EDUCATION:
Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of college-level qualifying coursework in telecommunications, electronic or information technology, computer science, computer information systems, public or business administration, or a closely related field.
A list of completed coursework must be submitted with the application if an associate's degree in a qualifying field has not been conferred.NOTE:
Specialized technology courses or certificate programs with 450 hours of classroom instruction (equivalent to one year of college-level education) is acceptable.EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of experience overseeing staff or technology in a lead or advanced role which can include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating work, in the areas of Enterprise Network Systems and WAN/LAN Infrastructures and/or other closely related technologies.
Substitution:
An additional one (1) year of qualifying experience may substitute the required education.Experience in designing and maintaining an IP network which carries data, voice, and video. Additionally, experience with Cisco products and technologies, network security using firewalls, etc. are highly desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and be a team player with the ability to achieve goals through influence, collaboration, and cooperation.Examination Procedure:
