JOB SUMMARY:The Benefits & Leave Manager oversees all aspects of employee benefits programs, leave management, and workers' compensation claims. This role is crucial in ensuring employees have access to competitive benefits and leave programs while remaining compliant with applicable laws and regulations. As a strategic leader, the manager will also drive initiatives to enhance employee wellness, safety, and engagement, collaborating with key stakeholders to support organizational goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION:

Design, implement, and manage comprehensive employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other perks.

Conduct ongoing evaluation of benefit offerings to ensure alignment with industry’s best practices and organizational goals.

Manage benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations through HRIS systems, ensuring accurate and timely processing and compliance with all legal requirements.

LEAVE MANAGEMENT:

Administer all aspects of employee leave programs, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA accommodations, parental leave, and company-specific leave policies.

Collaborate with managers to facilitate leave requests and ensure a seamless transition for employees returning from leave.

WORKERS' COMPENSATION:

Oversee the entire workers' compensation claims process, including intake, investigation, documentation, and resolution, while ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations.

Partner with internal stakeholders to develop and implement safety initiatives to reduce workplace accidents and promote employee well-being.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION:

Act as the primary point of contact for employee benefit, leave, and workers' compensation inquiries, providing guidance and effective resolution to support employee satisfaction.

Develop and deliver engaging communication materials, presentations, and one-on-one consultations to educate employees on available benefits, leave policies, and workers' compensation procedures.

VENDOR AND COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT:

Manage relationships with benefit vendors, insurance providers, and brokers, ensuring service quality, cost management, and contract compliance.

Ensure adherence to all federal and Hawaii state regulations regarding employee benefits, leave management, and workers' compensation.

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT AND STRATEGY:

Conduct audits and assessments of benefit programs, leave policies, and workers' compensation procedures to identify areas for improvement and enhance program effectiveness.

Drive strategic initiatives to support employee wellness, workplace safety, and organizational efficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CEBS, PHR/SPHR) preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration, leave management, and workers' compensation claims processing, ideally within a large or dynamic environment involving frequent interactions with both employees and guests.

SKILLS

Strong understanding of employee benefits programs, leave laws (including FMLA and ADA), and workers' compensation regulations.

Proficiency with HRIS platforms and benefits administration systems; experience with Ceridian Dayforce preferred.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments, build relationships with stakeholders, and manage complex processes in a fast-paced environment.

Strong knowledge of federal and Hawaii state labor laws and OSHA regulations governing employee benefits, leave, and workers' compensation.

SCHEDULE

Available to work Monday-Friday during standard business hours, with flexibility to support weekend, evening, and holiday needs based on business requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Office setting with potential travel to support off-site meetings or training.

Regular collaboration with diverse employee groups and external vendors.
