The Senior Systems Engineer for Cloud and Windows Compute Services will design, implement, and maintain Cox Enterprises’ cloud and Windows compute solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background in supporting both on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. You will drive transformation initiatives that improve user experience and contribute to the strategic and operational success of our infrastructure. Additionally, you will provide expertise and support to internal teams, ensuring high-performing, scalable solutions across diverse environments.Job Responsibilities:Administer Cloud and Windows Compute capabilities.Support the execution of Cloud and Windows Compute deliverables, collaborating with other team members and colleagues.Install, maintain, configure, and support business critical 24/7 Cloud and Windows systems. This includes operating system and hardware installation, monitoring, patching/vulnerability management, backups, and overall health of enterprise class systems. Plan and design for the future.Analyze and evaluate Cloud and Windows changes and updates to determine potential impact on dependent and related business services.Operate and administer Cox Enterprises’ use of public cloud workloads in Azure Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Google Cloud according to corporate standards and processes.Advanced knowledge of Windows systems. Advanced understanding of how the Windows operating system works; troubleshooting, best practices related to server operations.Maintain the operations of Cox Enterprises’ Baremetal Servers, VMWare, NSX, and Nutanix solutions.Provide application management and support of our Operational Tools solutions (SCCM/MECM, VMWare Operations Manager, and SafeSend applications).Contribute to the development and review of processes and standards to ensure all systems are user-friendly, high performing, high quality, modern solutions.Develop and maintain security best practices for On-Prem and cloud environments.Collaborate with technology vendors to ensure regular effective communications, adoption of product releases, and enhancements.Establish and nurture productive relationships with peers and colleagues.Provide on-call support as part of a rotation of team members to respond quickly to high-priority business needs, such as service outages. Complete tasks assigned for post-incident reports.Work effectively with others, consistently demonstrating Cox core values of listening and valuing diverse thought and ideas.Provide accurate and timely reporting of system performance and related information to management as required. Examples include system metrics, timesheets, and project plans.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years’ experience in a related field.Technical expertise of IT systems: Servers, storage, virtualization platforms (vSphere, NSX, and Nutanix), application management, networking, Active Directory/LDAP/DNS, information security and authentication, and backup/recovery technologies.Experience with scripting and automation including Infrastructure as Code and enabling technologies such as PowerShell, Terraform, and Ansible.Requires strong knowledge of cloud native technologies running in Azure, AWS, or OCI, private cloud solutions, and SaaS services.Preferred:Experience in VMWARE and Nutanix platform management experience.PowerShell Scripting proficiency.Terraform Experience.
