Maternal Child Health (MCH)
Department of Tribal Health
Hourly Wage: $25.66/Regular/Full-Time/SupervisoryResponsible for management of the Maternal Child Health Program operations including supervision and development of staff: budget administration, reports and delivery of program services. Collaborate with Tribal and Indian Health Service departments and the community and collaborate with other programs to promote positive health outcomes in maternal and child health, child development, and family well-being. Assist staff in assessing the health status and needs of the Maternal Child Health clients.
Examples of Work Performed:
Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the overall operations of MCH programs; determine the need for services and program improvements; develop resources and plans to meet such needs; evaluate service/program outcomes using data-driven solutions to improve health outcomes and improve health equity.
Prepare reports for budgeting, along with monthly and annual program updates to supervisor, Tribal Administrative Director, and Yakama Nation. Follow PL-638 contract guidelines and when appropriate, complete grants and contract requirements and activities.
Provide outreach services for car seat awareness, Immunization awareness, Well child clinics, and general Maternal Child Health care.
Review, monitor, compare and update individual immunization records by data entry per WA state register and Indian Health Services as needed.
Ensures all employees skills and education is up to date for providing car seat safety, immunization education, and other MCH related educational needs.
Willing to learn Indian Health Services Electronic Health Record system.
Abide by Yakama Nation Rules and Regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the PL 93-638 Funding source.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Knowledge of administration and management principles and practices.
Knowledge of CDC immunization guidelines.
Knowledge of WA state Immunization information register.
Knowledge of computer and various software such as Microsoft office and Adobe.
Knowledge and skill in use of standard medical equipment, i.e. blood pressure cuff, scale, thermometer.
Knowledge of Indian Health Service Charting System EHR and RPMS.
Knowledge of Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to travel.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to work under stress.
Ability to lift 5lbs or more.
Ability to stand, sit, bend, and walk for long periods of time.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in a Nursing, Public Health, Nutrition or related field.
Experience in Maternal Child Health and supervisory experience.
Required to pass pre-employment drug test.
Required to pass Federal Background check through Indian Health Services to obtain access to Yakama Service unit building and charting system.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
Must possess First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain on within three months of hire.
Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
