How Is This Role Important to Our Work?The ERM Principal is responsible for assisting with processes in support of the corporate Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program to identify, evaluate and monitor the organizations risks. The incumbent utilizes Enterprise Risk Management tools, practices, and policies to analyze and report on enterprise risks, and to monitor the management of risks according to the established ERM framework and methodologies. This role also supports further development of the ERM program. The ERM Principal exhibits business process knowledge, possesses a broad-based operational perspective and provides solutions for business risk issues.A Day in the Life:
Serve as a valued business partner in risk advisory and consulting services.Provide leadership and program management for processes in support of the enterprise-wide risk management program for the organization to support the identification, evaluation, understanding, management, and communication of significant business risks. This includes assisting with the ongoing development and implementation of the enterprise risk profile, risk appetite statements and risk tolerance statements.Lead and coordinate processes to complete the organizations Risk Management and Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (RMORSA). Act as a liaison across the organization in developing processes and controls to manage high priority risks. Work with business owners to help develop risk response plans for their areas designed to address identified risks and take advantage of opportunities to provide support of the company's achievement of its corporate strategic initiatives.Drive development and advancement of key risk indicators. Monitor key performance, key risk, and key control indicators to support management and board-level reporting through development and on-going management of an enterprise risk dashboard.Advance strategies in support of the ERM program and methodology.Develop and maintain effective networking relationships with business owners and management across all levels of the organization to promote open communication and company risk mitigation. Clearly present and explain complex information in both verbal and written form.Manage, lead and facilitate complex discussions with business units and help educate and cultivate a risk culture and awareness of how to manage risks.Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify emerging risk issues facing the organization.Support Enterprise Risk Management by leading, executing and/or overseeing special projects and other duties as assigned.Nice to Have:
Bachelor's/Masters degree in business or related field.One or more applicable professional designations (or in progress obtaining) such as: RIMS Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP), Actuarial designation (FSA, ASA, etc).Certified Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent Certified Internal Auditor.Management consulting background.Analytical skills in a discipline relevant to risk management (for example, financial modeling, planning and analysis, risk capital modeling, underwriting and pricing, corporate finance, or product management, or other).Advanced knowledge of the health care and insurance industry, as well ERM methodologies.Thorough understanding and knowledge of Blue Cross operations, products and systems.Exper4ence in leveraging enterprise GRC tools (e.g. Archer)Required Skills and Experiences:
5+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.Proficient knowledge of ERM principles and methodologies.Exceptional research, analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills to support proactively identifying potential concerns, and following up to resolve issues.Excellent written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated communication experience with diverse audiences.Business expertise and interpersonal leadership skills to effectively work through sensitive and/or complex situations throughout the organization to influence change.Ability to influence leadership through clear presentation and communication of complex information.Results orientation with ability to adapt and handle multiple projects concurrently with varying work-loads and ability to work independently.Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.Make A Difference
