Software Architect
Logistics Management Institute, Colorado Springs, CO
Overview
LMI is seeking a skilled Software Architect to support a client in the Colorado Springs, CO area.
LMI is a consultancy dedicated to powering a future-ready, high-performing government, drawing from expertise in digital and analytic solutions, logistics, and management advisory services. We deliver integrated capabilities that incorporate emerging technologies and are tailored to customers' unique mission needs, backed by objective research and data analysis. Founded in 1961 to help the Department of Defense resolve complex logistics management challenges, LMI continues to enable growth and transformation, enhance operational readiness and resiliency, and ensure mission success for federal civilian and defense agencies.
Responsibilities
In this role you will work directly with the software developers, engineers, and data analysts to expand an existing framework of the enterprise version of our core modeling and simulation (M&S) software. Extensive experience with Python and Java is a must, with firm knowledge of Gitlab CI/CD processes. You will also work with node.js and TypeScript when interacting with the front-end developers. This is a chance to use your skills to build and rapidly scale a micro-service-based architecture on a cloud system. AWS or other cloud experience is helpful but not required. The software will support collaborative simulations and analysis for the warfighter and potentially many other areas of the U.S. Government. The successful candidate must enjoy working in a highly innovative fast-paced environment, where you not only answer difficult questions, but you also help formulate the questions themselves.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related discipline with 10+ years of professional development experience or master's degree with 8+ years of professional software development experience
Space domain experience
Python and Java experience
Gitlab CI/CD processes

Solid understanding of and work experience employing multiple programming languages
Simulation framework/engine development experience
Experience designing, building, and managing large-scale software frameworks used to integrate disparate software systems and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL)
Ability to see both the big picture and details of software architectures and anticipate and facilitate architectural changes over the full software lifecycle
Agile software development experience, with the ability to develop features both collaboratively and on your own with minimal supervision
Growth mindset and willingness to continually learn and apply new technologies
Possess or be able to attain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance
Desired:
Advanced degree in related discipline
Physics-based modeling and digital twin development experience
Experience developing microservices, REST APIs, and software libraries
Experience integrating software applications through APIs and microservices
Experience with TDD and writing unit tests, integration tests, and system tests to achieve high code coverage within a CI/CD pipeline.
Experience working with large data sets through databases, JSON, and XML, and developing analytical software to process and present the data
Proficiency in NoSQL database design, maintenance, and operations (MongoDB is a plus)
Experience in container-based deployment using Docker
Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and SysML experience
Software team leadership experience
Target salary range: $128,000 - $229,000. Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to your skills, experience, education, and/or certifications.
