People and Culture Manager | Columbia Hospitality
This position will be an onsite position at Columbia's Seattle Support Center located in downtown Seattle. The People & Culture Manager is responsible for supporting a team of People & Culture Business Partners as well as performing P&C-related duties on a professional level. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, policy implementation, employment law compliance, worker's compensation and the tracking of People metrics to support business decisions.

What you'll do:
The Brass Tacks
Provide guidance to P&C BPs related to employee relations, accommodations, leaves of absence and other HR related mattersAct as P&C Business Partner for the Seattle Support Center for all matters below director levelAct as P&C Business Partner for a number of assigned propertiesServe as a back up for P&C on property transitions and openingsFacilitate training programs for team members and new P&C BPsResponsible for various projects and duties within the People & Culture team including but not limited to: onboarding new members of the People Support Team, creating and implementing standards for recording employee relations issues and investigations, maintaining and updating P&C related policies and procedures on the company intranet, etc.Manage routine to complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations and partners with leadership to recommend appropriate action to resolve the issuesMaintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance; partner with other departments as needed/requiredCollaborate with other areas of the company on the implementation and rollout of plans, programs and policiesWorks closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retentionComplete projects as assigned by the P&C leadership, or as needs are recognizedPerforms other related duties as assigned by management.The Nitty Gritty
Bachelor's degree, preferably in HR or Business, or equivalent work experience.Minimum 5 years of relevant HR Hospitality generalist/business partner experienceExtensive experience in employee relations, performance management, and federal and state employment laws (ie: EEO, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, HIPPA, OSHA, etc.)An understanding and commitment to Columbia Hospitality valuesAbility to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact and diplomacyWell organized, plans effectively and prioritizes time according to what matters mostDependable and can be counted upon to meet deadlines and commitmentsStrong consulting and communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiateStrong interviewing/fact finding and decision-making skillsStrong conflict management skills with demonstrated understanding of interpersonal relationship buildingProven success at developing strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve resultsAbility to work from the office 4 days per week.
