The position is responsible for developing and keeping up to date the controls migration strategy from the existing systems to PLC based controllers with interfacing to data historians. The Corporate Controls Engineer works with the sites and the Corporate Engineering Director to develop and execute the CapEx projects to implement this strategy and as a team member on large CapEx projects as the controls engineer. This includes developing estimates, design, procurement, and installation of projects with the site maintenance groups and/or contractors. This position is also responsible to assist all 4 WW sites with controls troubleshooting and optimization concerns and is considered to Corporate Expert for PLC programming and controls system.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPromote Safety first mindset. Lead and champion a culture of compliance to all regulatory, environmental, health and safety laws and regulations.Responsible for the Corporate wide and site control strategies and developing and keeping up to date the site controls architecture drawings for all 4 WW sites.Responsible for developing and keeping up to date the controls migration strategy from the existing systems to PLC based controllers with interfacing to data historians.Work with the sites and the Corporate Engineering Director to develop and execute the CapEx projects to implement the controls strategy.Develop estimates, and perform design, procurement, and installation functions for the projects with the site maintenance groups and/or contractors.Lead CapEx projects that are primarily controls or electrical systems based including overall project management and cost and scheduling functions using the Corporate Engineering Designer and/or outside contractors.Be a project team member for controls work on large CapEx projects.Responsible to assist all 4 WW sites with controls troubleshooting and optimization concerns.Develop the skills through training and practice to be the Corporate Expert for PLC programming and controls system. Suggest training needed to maintain and increase this level of proficiency.Work with the Corporate Director of IT/IS to develop the backup strategy for all controls system (PLC, controllers, PI data historian) programming and address all loss prevention issues.Work with the Corporate Engineering Designer to maintain the P&ID's and all controls and electrical drawings for all 4 WW sites.Develop and maintain corporate standards based upon existing and projected new codes and internal design and manufacturing practices for new installations for controls and electrical systems.Maintain ongoing relationship with equipment suppliers to understand the best value (cost, feature, reliability, etc.) for controls and electrical systems.Technical resource for all Site Managers, Site Engineers and Maintenance Managers on troubleshooting and optimizing existing control processes.Over time develop skills around low and high voltage electrical systems to expand capabilities into these areas.Promote a positive, responsive culture based upon teamwork and accountability that is reflective of ownership in the guiding principles.Develop and maintain knowledge of HMI best practices and design principles to increase operator effectiveness, safety, and process management.Develop and maintain knowledge of intra and extra-process communications to serve as a facilitator for process communications and corporate IT communications.EDUCATIONMinimum of BS in Chemical or Electrical Engineering or other engineering disciplines or other science related fields.EXPERIENCE5+ in the process and capital related engineering fieldsExperience as a manufacturing or process engineer is desirable but not mandatoryExperience across multiple engineering disciplines is a not mandatory but is desirableExperience in construction is a not mandatory but is desirableSKILLS AND ABILITIESAllen Bradley PLC programmingComputer Skills - MS Office, Word, Excel PowerPoint, Project, Autodesk for drawings and Navisworks for 3D modelsInterested in hearing more?
