Job Description
Develops drawings and documentation through the lifecycle of projects from design to engineering through production. Designers have a shared ownership of projects from assignment to install, ensuring successful implementation at every stage and clean handoffs. Communicates schedule and project needs to the Design Manager to ensure accurate loading and scheduling, while also managing their own schedules and project timelines.
Responsibilities
Verify product layout and use, communicating with the various project and process leads to ensure accuracy.
Develop custom design solutions and products for custom and boutique projects in tandem with the Design Manager.
Validate proposed custom solutions and their feasibility for mass manufacture through prototyping.
Participate in client meetings to discuss feedback and maintain product requirements.
Package complete product specifications for design, engineering, and production.
Collaborate on internal product development or special projects with project or process leads.
Follow best practices in digital housekeeping of project files and documentation, ensuring accuracy and organization.
Maintain a physical presence and assistance on the production and assembly floor at the facility as scheduled.
Essential Skills
Experience producing 3D drawings in Rhino.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Grasshopper, Schematic Design, Design, Drafting, Interior Architecture, Revit, Architecture, Adobe Creative Suite, and Architectural Design.
Technical and design work experience at a commercial-based architecture firm.
Experience with construction documents, including Reflected Ceiling Plans, construction details such as millwork or ceiling details, and schedules such as room finishes and door hardware.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters in Architecture or related
Must 1-3 years experience in a commercial architecture firm
Note: Graphic design, industrial design, and UX/UI experience is NOT applicable
Design experience with floor plan layouts, interior design, or rendering
Experience with Grasshopper/Dynamo and Revit/AutoCAD preferred
Visualization skills in Rhino, Enscape, etc. are required
Must be local- Office located in Chicago
