The Preoperative Registered Nurse works as a professionalpractitioner employed by Amergis Healthcare Staffing and assumes the responsibilityand accountability for the application of the nursing process and the deliveryof patient care in the preoperative setting. The Preoperative Registered Nurse demonstrates the ability to makeclinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision. The Preoperative Registered Nurse demonstrates criticalthinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care andconsistently performs according to nursing standards. The Preoperative Registered Nurse isaccountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management ofthe preoperative patient. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement andevaluate patient care within the preoperative area Performs focused interview to identify specific patientneeds Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient's condition Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and information fromhealth care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses Documents the patient's plan of care using identifiednursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursinginterventions Provides preoperative instructions to patients Assists physicians during surgeries by performing routinetasks such as preparing operating rooms, sterilizing equipment, and setting upsurgical instruments Serves as a liaison between the patient, family, physician,and other health care providers Provides education and support to patients who aretransitioning to home after a hospital stay Performs interventions according to identified priorities,plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient outcome standard Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patientenvironment Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes inmedical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventions Documents patient's response to nursing and otherinterventions Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meetpatient care needs of an assigned floor/unit including establishing priorities Monitors safety and effectiveness of the environment andequipment Performs other duties as assigned/necessary Minimum Requirements: One year of preoperative experience preferred Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which thenurse practices Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice Participation and completion of Amergis Competency programwhen applicable Current CPR if applicable TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) Must meet all federal, state and local requirements Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required Computer proficiency required Must be at least 18 years of age Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: Competitive pay & weekly paychecks Health, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) savings plan Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
