Position Summary:
The Franklin Pierce University Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) Program is committed to collegial collaboration amongst all team members, across all phases. Core faculty in the MPAS Program will work closely with the MPAS faculty and staff and will be responsible for assisting in the program's administration, including curriculum development, delivery, and review. In addition to teaching, other responsibilities will include didactic and clinical course coordination, oversight of clinical experiences, academic advising, admissions and recruitment, program evaluation, participating in institutional activities and committees, facilitating quality learning experiences for students, and evaluating students’ performance in cooperation with other faculty.
Position Requirements :
Instructional:
Teach a variety of courses in the didactic and clinical phases of the program.
Teach assigned courses in accordance with course syllabus, institutional policy, and accreditation standards.
Develop and update clinical course syllabi, required reading assignments, and learning objectives.
Academic Advising:
Post and observe office hours for purposes of academic advising and student consultation. Hold office hours at times that are convenient for students.
Meet with students as needed, by appointment.
Maintain general knowledge of degree requirements, graduation requirements, remediation, and student services.
Program and Institutional Service:
Develop, review, and revise the program's mission statement, goals, and competencies as needed.
Attend and actively participate in scheduled department, division, and university-wide committees.
Actively participate in assisting the University in maintaining standards required for accreditation.
Requirements/Skills/Abilities:
Faculty shall be a graduate of an accredited PA program or related health degree (M.D./Ph.D./N.P./D.O.), with a minimum of a master's degree.
Faculty shall maintain National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification if a physician assistant.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a practicing provider.
Must have knowledge of educational, management, and adult learning theory and principles.
Ability to administer, assess, and document programmatic clinical education trends and data.
Previous teaching experience or preceptorship is preferred.
Possess a mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (specifically, Word, Excel, and Outlook), along with a typical office machine including, printer, copier, and fax.
