HOW A CONFIGURATION AND ASSET MANAGER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Configuration Managers must be detail-oriented and have in-depth knowledge in establishing and maintaining the consistency of information regarding the design requirements, functional and physical attributes, and operational information of enterprise configuration items (CIs). Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, business management, and customer service skills.

Job Responsibilities :

Works directly with the ITSM Service Delivery Lead (ITSM Leader) , providing a detailed, accurate picture of the IT infrastructure through a centralized configuration management database (CMDB), for effective decision-making in ITSM processes like incident management, change management, and problem management, allowing the ITSM leader to quickly understand the impact of changes, troubleshoot incidents, and make informed decisions based on the current configuration of IT services and components.Maintains a comprehensive record of all configuration items (CIs) within the IT environment, including their relationships, attributes, and current state.Notifies the ITSM leader about potential impacts of proposed changes by identifying all related CIs affected by a change request, helping to mitigate risks and prevent service disruptions.Quickly identifies the specific components involved in an incident by accessing the CMDB, allowing the ITSM leader to rapidly diagnose the problem and assign appropriate resources.Assists in root cause analysis by providing detailed information about system configurations and dependencies, enabling the ITSM leader to identify recurring issues and implement preventive measures.Generates reports based on CMDB data to provide insights into the overall health of the IT infrastructure, identify potential vulnerabilities, and inform strategic decisions.Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive, effective CM program.Draft controls, policies, procedures, and processes based on NIST CM Controls and DoD CIO ZTA directives, standards, and frameworks , CM - DoD Directive 5144.02 , DoDD 8000.01, DOD 8320.02, and the DOD Enterprise Service Management Framework (DESMF).Ensure all CM processes and workflows are aligned with NIST SP 800-128 (Security Focused Configuration Management).Provide oversight for organizational Configuration Management Database (CMDB) auditing to ensure the accuracy of configuration data and proper reporting and status accounting.Provide strategic guidance and process improvement recommendations that facilitates efficient data capture, synchronization, and deconfliction that ensures the accuracy, currency, and relevancy of information captured through discovery, API integrations, and manual inputs.Continuous improvements for the automation and maintenance of non-discoverable data attributes including integration of other asset management systems.Assisting in developing standard IT configuration management methodology.Develops CMDB policy, processes and knowledge base.Improve CI data integrity regarding classes, naming conventions, attributes, data sources, and relationshipsValidate the soundness and accuracy of configuration management audits and reconciliation.Works with other ITSM processes to inform configuration management activities based on new requirements ensuring alignment to NIST and ZTA frameworks.Provide strategic guidance and direction to build seamless dashboard with CI metrics and analytics that support health tracking of CIs, and their relationships, impact to changes.Ensure the establishment of detailed records that provide current state of CIs, historical changes, and checks/balances that are fully auditable.Define and document CIs throughout their lifecycle.Documenting and reviewing CM findings and then coordinating corrective action.Monitoring standards compliance, as well as change and release implementation.Evaluating baseline deviations and making recommendations for rectifying them.Establishing and implementing CM compliance standards.Evaluating contracts and developing associated configuration management approaches.Reviewing and implementing CM plans, baselines, and milestones.Developing and implementing overarching CM procedures and establishing responsibilities, authorities, and plan approval levels.Conducting Technical Review Board (TRB) and Change Review Board (CRB) meetings or other medium established to manage change control.Work with cross-functional team leads and Other duties as assigned.WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
