Job DescriptionThe Backup and Virtualization Administrator is responsible for backup management practices for MiTek's global infrastructure. Maintains and modifies Veeam backup and archival procedures. Monitors backups, storage use and resources and troubleshoots related issues. Performs capacity planning and monitors/tunes systems. Installs, configures, and tests backup management software and hardware. Formulate and test disaster recovery/business continuance procedures using Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator. Manages and monitors day-to-day operations of virtualization technologies including VMware, Hyper-V, and Azure.

This position reports to the IT Infrastructure Supervisor. It involves additional support requirements such as 24-hour pager coverage for backup and virtualization systems. Must be flexible to support pre-scheduled after-hours or weekend work and support. Although travel is usually planned, issues can arise which could warrant immediate travel to one or more satellite locations.

ResponsibilitiesManage, monitor, and maintain Backups (Veeam) and Backup Storage (Pure FlashBlade)Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve Backup problems across Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Azure)Plan and execute Backup and Virtualization deployments and upgrades alongside Regional IT TeamsManage, monitor, and maintain Physical Server Hardware and Appliances used for backups and virtualizationDiagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve Physical Server Hardware and Appliance problems (Cisco UCS, Pure, and HPE Proliant/SimpliVity)Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix, and document problems, and implement preventive measuresCreate and maintain documentation of Backup and Virtualization environmentPerform server and workstation OS deployments across virtualization platformsRemediate security vulnerabilities in conjunction with the Information Security TeamProvide Tier III Support for IT Operations and IT Development TeamsComplete IT Infrastructure related tasks related to IT projectsQualifications

Associate Related Degree or Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis2+ years' experience with server hardware and software troubleshooting to the component level.2+ years' experience with Veeam software.2+ years' experience VMWare virtual environments.2+ years of direct or indirect problem determination and resolution.Soft SkillsCandidate should possess strong organizational skills, be detail oriented, and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to problem solve. Must be team oriented and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong sense of urgency and strong commitment to quality customer service is required. Ability to analyze and interpret data (metrics) in order to improve the delivery and support of services to our customers.

Additional Requirements

5% Most travel will be planned well in advance and related to job responsibilities. Although travel is usually planned in advance, issues can arise which could warrant immediate travel to one or more satellite locations.

Physical DemandsThis role is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role. This role may need to access areas within the building that are undergoing renovations which may contain jobsite hazards. Occasionally this role will required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.
