About the Role The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a staff of process engineers through the development of new model and minor model programs; monitors resolution of concerns during model development, including implementation of field fix and repair information; and drives standardization, efficiency improvements, and strategy initiatives. New Model development includes the requirement for process equipment, materials, tooling, and countermeasures for workability and quality concerns. In addition, manages and oversees key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with scrap reduction and equipment efficiency.The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a staff of process engineers through the development of new model and minor model programs; monitors resolution of concerns during model development, including implementation of field fix and repair information; and drives standardization, efficiency improvements, and strategy initiatives. In addition, manages and oversees key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with scrap reduction and equipment efficiency. What You Will Do
Provides support to the battery plant for quality, cost, delivery, and safety related engineering problems. Manages and leads the development of budgets for new model development and ensures adherence to the approved budgets once programs are contracted. Manages major and minor model manufacturing plan development and execution, including trials and launch of new equipment and tooling, confirms new and minor model program requirements; ensures requirements for quality, delivery, cost, and safety are met; addresses production to ensure countermeasures are made in a timely manner; ensures program targets are met at each trial or development stage. Identifies potential improvements and implements new department processes, systems, and tracking processes to obtain departmental KPIs. Coordinates with Envision AESC engineering and design groups globally to implement changes in battery or parts design; develops processes and plans to improve manufacturability and resolve PQA concerns and early field feedback quality concerns; provides feedback to Japan regarding design as it affects manufacturing. As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative. Supports manufacturing as required to meet aforementioned goals with continuous process improvements; provides direction to manufacturing regarding manpower utilization and efficiency, and ergonomics. Provides direction and responsibilities for employees centered on training, objectives, development of standards within the job function, and New Model plant preparation. Supervises and provides leadership, coaching, guidance, training and staff development; interviews and selects unit employees; plans and evaluates employee performance; recommends merit increases, transfers and promotions; counsels and disciplines employees as necessary; recommends termination when appropriate; and monitors time and attendance of subordinates. Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. What You Need
Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering discipline from an accredited institution. Minimum 5 years of directly related professional-level Engineering or managerial experience Minimum of 2 years in an engineering or manager role exhibiting leadership skills Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and other PC applications Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills; report writing skills, presentation abilities, and motivational skills. Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with all staff levels and disciplines is a must. Able to work cross-functionally with staff in Operations, Production, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, etc. What's "Nice to Have" In-depth understanding of lithium battery manufacturing, product knowledge, battery manufacturing processes and equipment, and related information systems. Preferred experience in NPW, APW, TPS, or similar lean manufacturing production system training and execution. Six Sigma and VDA Core tools preferred. Formal problem-solving experience on complex issues. (CAPA, 8D, 5Why) Outstanding planning, scheduling, and organizational and demonstrated leadership skills. Travel
Occasional domestic and international travel required.
