Entryway Grants Coordinator VISTA

Entryway (f/k/a Shelters to Shutters), Nashville, TN, United States

NOTE: This is not a salaried position, but rather a full time AmeriCorps VISTA position with Entryway- become a member for one year and receive a modest stipend for your work.

Build a grant funding framework for Entryway’s work across the U.S., leading to increased revenue, diversification, and sustainability for our mission to help families find economic stability.

Entryway is a national nonprofit operating in 11 regional markets. Founded in 2014, our program restructured after the pandemic. We are seasoned professionals who operate in an entrepreneurial culture that may remind you of a start-up, with abundant opportunity to build capacity.

Entryway opens doors for individuals and families facing situational homelessness to return to economic independence. Participants receive career training, life skills, mentorship, and access to full-time employment and discounted housing opportunities with our apartment industry partners. We break down barriers so individuals can step into their true potential.

This VISTA position, like our entire team, will work remotely and can be based in any of the metropolitan areas of our eleven active markets (Atlanta, Austin, Charleston, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, Nashville, Orlando, Phoenix, Washington DC). Weekly all-staff videoconferences keep everyone informed and offer a forum to share wins and test new ideas.

The Grants VISTA member will build capacity by increasing the number of annual grant applications to local governments, corporate, family, or private foundations. The member will research and write grants for 11+ local communities where Entryway provides services, building calendars and messaging templates for each service market. They will also assess and implement a grants management system that integrates data from all markets to give a complete picture of Entryway’s funding applications submitted.

The ideal candidate will have strong writing and proofing skills, a high comfort level with technology tools, and an affinity for collaborating with others. We are looking for a team player who has a high standard for the quality and integrity of their work output and possesses the emotional intelligence to conduct themselves with professionalism and discretion.

This position is for one year and can begin on December 2, 2024.

The Grants Coordinator VISTA member will create a valuable framework of funding opportunities that will give teams in 11+ service markets the tools they need to secure more diverse funding from local governments, public, corporate, or private foundations. The member will spend about half of their time writing grants and establishing template messaging. Remaining time will be spent on researching opportunities and identifying Entryway’s best opportunities for funding, while designing systems and calendars to help Entryway coordinate grants over time.

Activities include creating annual calendar(s) of opportunities, researching grants for national and regional services, writing and submitting grants, creating a best practice guide and grant training for Entryway staff, evaluating and identifying areas of improvement for grants management. The member will work independently, but also closely with senior level leadership. We are excited to add this member to our team!
