Major Duties (Job Description)
- You will serve as an Assistant Program Manager, Engineering (APM-E) assigned to the Office of the Chief Engineer (5.0) of the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR).
- You will provide technical leadership to implementation of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) across NAVWAR.
- You will be embedded with PEO C4I and be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and management of the Systems Engineering processes for WAN systems with focus of SDN implementation.
- You will design, develop, implement, and integrate WAN and SDN commercial and government products, systems, and programs through application of the principles, techniques and practices of systems engineering, technical management, and analysis.
- You will provide technical direction, oversight and guidance to the Tactical Networks Program Office leading engineering efforts, overseeing systems engineering products, and ensuring DoD, Navy, and NAVWAR engineering processes are implemented.
- You will be responsible for all technical management processes implemented in programs including technical planning, requirements, configuration management, assessments, decision analysis, risk management, interface management, and data management.
- You will develop plans and recommendations for the implementation of Systems Engineering for advanced concepts across networks/Information Technology (IT) products, systems, and services.
- You will lead Independent Technical Readiness Assessments against WAN and SDN programs in the tactical networks program office to identify and report out risks, issues, and opportunities to the Program Manager and Chief Engineer.
- You will support the development of networking roadmaps and Navy service blueprints, develop capability insertion opportunities, perform systems analysis and risk assessments, and provide input into funding requirements development.
Qualification Summary
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or DP-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Advise programs on design, development, integration, deployment and sustainment in areas to include Wide Area Networks (WAN), Software Defined Networking (SDN), integration of commercial and government networking solutions, and implementation of Naval tactical network architectures.
