JOB DUTIES:
- Collaborates with Production Control and Inventory Control Supervisors to support production needs.
- Negotiates pricing, terms, and conditions of purchasing contracts for goods and services.
- Investigates and resolves the expediting of parts for quality or delivery concerns.
- Reviews and analyzes material consumption and forecasts to advise on inventory and EOQ levels.
- Converts demand signals into Purchase Orders for outside services, establishing accurate order quantities based on needs reports, setup time, material availability, and capacity.
- Places and sends Purchase Orders for required materials.
- Reviews and reconciles Purchase Orders and invoices with the Purchasing and Finance departments.
- Communicates with internal departments regarding quality, delivery, or price concerns.
- Creates and reports purchasing metrics.
- Assists in the training and guidance of department personnel.
- Assists in the research, development, and qualification of suppliers and supply chain partners.
- Maintains supplier relationships and evaluations and resolves supplier grievances or disputes.
- Actively tracks price changes and on-time delivery performance of suppliers and outside service providers.
- Communicates with suppliers to manage the supply chain within their capacity and lead times.
- Administers compliance to ISO, IATF and other regulatory requirements for related purchasing functions.
- Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required for visits to vendors and suppliers.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field is preferred.
- Associate's degree in Business, Finance or related field, combined with a minimum of 3 years direct experience in a manufacturing Purchasing capacity.
- Contract Review and financial negotiation knowledge.
- Expertise in supplier evaluation and qualification.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Proficient in finance and mathematics, Bills-of-Material and basic engineering drawing reading.
- Advanced knowledge in the use of ERP/MRP software systems.
- Knowledge of and working familiarity with steel and alloy materials.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
- Bilingual Spanish or German communication is preferred.
- Certification in APICS, Purchasing or Supply Chain is preferred.
